Is it a piston port or reed engine? Personally, in either case the only thing I would consider changing, if not already done, is the impeller and that is only if I could find a cheap upgrade. Like Jumper said ride it and save money for repairs or a new ski. You don't want to be sitting on shore...

Bore out your manifold with a rotary tool and go with a 38mm carb, or hit up kingal69 for a replacement 28mm carb.

Something like this. Not real familiar with which side of the Supertrap is the exit so it may need to be flipped. Not sure it is worth the hassle over an OEM drilled waterbox.

83 was a piston port. If it were me I would confirm timing and flywheel then move on from there.

You need a puller. Can be loaned out at autozone. I believe they call it "harmonic" puller. Do you have spark on both plugs?

So the flywheel key is intact and the timing is set correctly?
