You may have a bigger problem...
In the pictures it looks like the bushing that holds the back of the bendix, (inside the case) is shot.
Clean that up and check it out. If the Bendix flops around in there It will bind up and cause you a lot of problems. The bendix should fit in that bushing...

Well... The idea came to me as I was dissecting the 62T exhaust system to see where the water injection hole was. All that time spent, (filling up the water jackets) to figure out that it's a dry pipe.

Utilizing another part that you may have laying around or about to throw out.
If not then someone else has one or several just laying around.
The OEM Yamaha exhaust head pipe FREEZE PLUGS.
The head pipe commonly found on all Raiders, Wave Ventures, Blaster 2's, XL's, And GP's. Does not matter...
The 38's also use mostly all of the same parts except for one of the square rubber diaphragms on the pump side. One part of it is just a hair different for the 38's.
If it's leaking out of that weep hole then the diaphragm is comprised somewhere.
Hold it up to a bright light and check for pin holes.
That diaphragm is about $19
Your mid shaft should never "wobble around". You need to address that issue.
Your pump does need to be lined up. Cold fusion makes a nice tool for that.
Then your mid shaft, then your motor.
