Have heard the newer b pipes have a larger i.d. manifold and headpipe. Can anyone take a caliper to measure one that's fairly new and unmodified to confirm that?
My older b pipe, probably from the late 90s or early 2000s measures exactly 44mm
I was messing with this today with a ss ported 735, dry pipe, 48 novis. Started with 60 jet. Had about 3-4psi at idle, and it remained right around that range with 70 and 80 jet (closer to 3 with 80). Ended up trying a 140 jet and this got me within the 2psi range at idle-2500. And it did...
That's the max clearence allowed. If it's too tight and the prop drags the wear ring then yes it's a problem. I have seen that. I always spin the mid coupler before setting engine in to check for drag. Running a/m mag pump
No drag and at 9 thou is good
I dont have one on my ski, but I have heard 2 superjets with jm box and it was noticeable but not crazy loud like a race boat with a triple or something.
Race superjets in mod classes are still capable, a local buddy won a race last year in vet ski open with a superjet against 1500s, triples,etc. (Sorry to de-rail)
It's not hard to make a set yourself. You need 1/4" steel plate and about 1/8" thick sheet of rubber. Make a template and start drilling and cutting.
If you can buy matco tools, they sell a quick dial pressure/vacuum pump. I bought one and have not even had a chance to try it on a pressure...
