Was the SeaDoo 580 starter used? How did you test it before installing it?
Its either a bad starter motor or a bad ground.
A bad starter may work fine on the bench but when its under load, it just doesn't have the power to turn the motor over.
Should be a 15-20 minute process. Pull the battery and battery tray first. Take off the hose clamps on the top and back of the tank and then yank the breather hoses. piece a cake.
I was able to take apart the solenoid on my JS550 and grease it up to get it going again. It lasted 2 more seasons before it quit altogether. I would bet its the solenoid and not something else - especially if its clicking. You could verify with a volt meter.
I have had good batteries go bad just like you say (light switch). Based on the fluid you speak of, you are using a typical acid battery. These have lead plates in them. Jet Skis batteries take a beating while riding. If one of the plates separates the battery will loose all power. This...
if the start/stop switch was bad it wouldn't click. Did you you try direct power to the starter motor? This will rule out the starter if it works. There are two connections on your ebox - one going in to the starter solenoid and the other coming out and going to the starter motor. Just arc...
I have had this issue on multiple skis. I have had two starter solenoids go bad on my JS550. I used to just smack the e-box with the handle of a hammer while I'm holding the start switch and it would free up. If its not the stater solenoid it could be the starter itself. The bendix could be...
I assume you have seen the attached water routing diagram before.
It looks like your O-ring/s could be failing. Difficult to get a good read based on the photo.
If it is, you will be running very lean and hot. You would never be able to tune the pipe if its running lean.
Once you are sure...
I thought I would provide an update in case anyone was interested.
I set-up the Pipe for low-end as FP suggested - I closed bottom and middle screws and opened top 3/4 turn.
The mid range gurgle that I was experiencing subsided, but didn't completely go away. I played with the pilot screw a...
Thanks for all the help.
Sounds like I have several things to try. I have an inline (ball valve) flow restrictor that I can take off of my JS550. I'll play with that as well.
Brandox2 -
your post: Im a little confused after looking at factory pipes carb suggestions. is it 1.5 on highspeed...
Still need to get out and test it - work keeps getting in the way.
However, it is running so rich, I would be surprised if closing the bottom screw and opening the top would completely solve the issue.
Below is the response from FP.
I'll give it a try and post results.
FP Response:
Our jetting should be pretty close as long as you are not at elevation. We can't advise you on jetting but there is a Mikuni article on our site that might help. Closing the bottom headpipe screw and opening...
Thanks for the comments. I have single cooling and no restriction to the stinger. The set-up is per FP.I have the stock SBN 44 with stock FA. The choke has been removed (primer).
Hey guys. I know this topic has many posts, however, I couldn't find one that answers my questions. I'm hoping someone has had a similar experience and can provide some insight.
I have a 1995 SN (701). As far as the engine goes, it is all stock and very low hours. I just installed a B-pipe...
