the engines in our skis dont really get that hot. normal paint will work, but its just not as durable when it comes to gas and oil ect.
just what ive found anyways....the dupli color engine paint is what i use now. ive rebuilt hundreds of engines (not ski engines) and painted them with that...
ya your gonna have to have that ground out real well and welded. cast alum is a prick to weld, so hopfully you get somone who knows what they are doing.
if you just jb weld it, it will stop the water but it might keep cracking and get worse. maybe a used headpipe might be cheaper??? just...
when your looking at the ski from the side, eyeball the top of the exhaust tube where it goes thru the bulkhead. mark it on the side of the ski.
than eyeball the top of the exhaust tube where it exits out the rear of the ski. mark that too.

if the cdi is...
if your talking about the dark ring around the top of the bores, thats just carbon and the rings dont go quite to the top to scrape it away...for lack of a better term. happens on all engines, big or small. 2 or 4 stroke.
