just rebuilt carb and won't start BN44

Hold your hand over the top of the carb throat and crank the engine. This forces suction through the fuel curcuits, effectively 'choking' the engine. I find that I have to do this if I've had carbs apart for any reason.

    Randy @ Watcon and Matt_E

I thought I'd post in this thread again to say how much I appreciate Randy's help. His after sales service and product support would be hard to beat anywhere. He's helped me out numerous times with my stupid little questions, and is always willing to help out or chase down a problem...

    Squish measurement and RPM's

Yeah, thats what I thought. I don't have any pics at the moment, but I'll get some next time I have the head off. As I said though, it a thin line about .5mm wide that goes around the exhaust port side, kinda like a smile but does not extend past the gudgeon pin area. I'm hoping it's no...

    Total Loss help?

OK guys... Finally got the total loss in and running, and this thing RIPS! I know it's a bit of a pain to install properly, but it sure is worth it. Anyway, I've asked this question to a few people, but nobody seems to know. Basically, the ski starts and runs fine no problems, but when...

    Squish measurement and RPM's

Just a quick question here... I'm running an ADA head on top of a 61x cylinder that is at 83mm with Sudco pistons. I've measured the squish, which comes up within spec of .040 no problems, but upon inspecting the pistons, I notice there is a small ring halfway around the outer piston top...

    96 + prop for flatwater freestyle ?

It's all good. I just read back through the thread and I got a bit ahead of myself. Sometimes, in my quest to help people out, I jump the gun a bit! Heh, Oz, has it's fair share of idiots as well!! Well, I've learnt something, and hope other have as well. Thanks for your input! :)

    96 + prop for flatwater freestyle ?

I never said anything about being confused, I don't know why you would assume that. Maybe you're just a whole lot smarter than me, I am, after all just from Australia. If I know what I want, I ask for it. In this case I asked for a 13/16 -3. I didn't look up any charts to see what pitches...

    96 + prop for flatwater freestyle ?

These were orderd BRAND NEW. I asked for 13/16 -3. The pitch gauge I have confirms these are in fact 13/16. Well, if these props have been re-worked....I have indeed been ripped off twice.

    96 + prop for flatwater freestyle ?

Why is it then that the last 2 NEW impellers I have had from Impros have had 13/17 stamped on them, but been the 13/16 -3 I requested? Also, on both props, the rear hub/blade area has been re-worked. Again, both BRAND NEW. I'll try to take a pic if you like. One has come direct from...

    96 + prop for flatwater freestyle ?

How do you think they cut the blades back? Cut them off the hub and re-weld them?? From what I understand, they start with a higher pitch prop and move it back towards the pump ending up at the desired pitch. That last 2 props I have had from Impros have 13/17 stamped on them, but have...

    96 + prop for flatwater freestyle ?

The 13/17 will be fine...If you do anything to it, get it cut back 3mm and it will also change the pitch. If you get that 13/17 cut back 3mm, you'll end up with a 13/16....:veryhappy:

    WTF motor running backward?

Is it normal for an engine to run backwards? Now, I'm no brain scientist or rocket surgeon, but I'm pretty sure your engine running backwards is NOT normal. Make sure you have the ski pointing the right direction in the water, and also make sure you don't have the exhaust and the intake...

    MSD Enhancer

I'm not doubting that, but if he was using a decent ignition, it wouldn't have been a problem. Dry pipes are, after all, designed to get the very most out of your engine as far rpm's go, and therefore should be able to hold WOT forever without failing if the right ignition curve is dialled in.

    MSD Enhancer

Hey D, Yeah, the old 10 second WOT test was a bit inaccurate! Turns out it took 11 seconds to toast the engine...On a brighter note, sweet porting and total loss just made me VERY happy!

    MSD Enhancer

If you are thinking about using an Enhancer, you really need to know what you are planning on using your ski for. If you have a stock engine (well, stock compression, or raised up to around 180ish) you'll be able to use the Enhancer for race/freestyle. Anything that involves more compression...

    Total Loss help?

Ok, I made a bit of a discovery... It turns out that the pickups themselves are not a symetrical. In an attempt to fool proof the pickup plate, I reversed on of the pickups on it's mount so the wire can run directly through the wire hole, rather than looping it around the entire plate...

    Total Loss help?

Thanks for the replies guys. Although I can re-drill the pickup holes, I feel I shouldn't have to, being a brand new unit and all! I've sent a message to MSD, and they replied... On the trigger plate you can adjust the trigger to line up with each other. There are slots to do this. I...

    Need opinions (mixing case halves)

I've matched case halves plenty of times, and NEVER had a leak. I'm told that they are matched from the factory as well, but never have I had an issue.

    Speedwerx dry pipe timing

It depends if you are using a programmable cdi or not. If you mechanically adjust your timing, you'll be rebuilding in no time because you are upping the entire curve. If you can plot your own curve, I'd start off at around 35 degrees, and drop it off at about 4k to 17 degrees or less. If...
