They ride similarly. A friend of mine loves his 550 and likes FX-1s enough that he will buy one when the right deal comes up. He doesn't like superjets so much either. I think if he set up one the way HE wanted it and rode it for more than a couple hours it might be a different story though.
If you're as much of a cheapskate as I am (and have access to the equipment) you can weld up those cast pieces, I've done it on two poles that are still holding strong, one has been in use for about 3 years.
My Ocean pro plate has fins, but they're closer to the edge of the plate and angled.... I like it.
Those fins might cut down your mud sliding distances on the snopoomish though.
That's horrible. Everybody please be careful out there, there's a lot of boaters that don't pay close enough attention to driving. Don't count on them trying to avoid you.
That varies state to state. Here they don't do any kind of inspection- sometimes the reg. will say something like "just because this vehicle is registered for street use doesn't mean that it was intended for use on public roads"
