If it runs well with new plugs, change your plugs more frequently. Many people run the same plugs far too long. They're cheap. Change them often. Don't waste your money on expensive iridium or other fancy plugs. Just use standard NGK. I change every 3-5 tanks of fuel.

I've found Blackjacks to be some of the easiest tuning carbs on the market. They run higher popoff than most for clean response. You can also get the Art on the phone easily if you have any questions while tuning. Getting Brazina on the phone is reportedly very difficult...
I'm in. You're welcome to sign my name. It sure is more fun to ride 2 minutes away from your house. If there's a way to sign online, let me know.

If you have access to Plexus, it'll be vastly superior. Epoxy/milled fiber is good, but Plexus is made for this kind of application and is tough to beat.

The underpad you want and that HT uses is Minicell. It's made by Voltec and can be found at most foam suppliers and cut to any thickness desired.

I've used them for years with no hose melting issues. The key is to set it up correctly so that it is open when you need it to be. A high flow waterbox will still have to be blown clear of excess water when the throttle is snapped open so it will not have give the same results as a properly...
I believe the red one is the version that requires shims to adjust pop off. I use them on all my boats. Keeping the waterbox dry is especially good for freeride/freestyle boats as well as race boats.
